Just read an article reporting the death of the actress Julie Harris, she of the sweet-girl role of Abra in East of Eden, opposite James Dean. I remember she was a method actor, just like James Dean was, and at the time I think it was still fairly new -- at least to the movie-watching public if not the acting world.
She was also the main character in what I thought was the scariest movie of my childhood. I had gotten to an age when movies were seeming ridiculous and overdone, but this one was utter psychological horror. The Haunting, that is.
I liked her; it's odd to see her as elderly. Just like Barbara Feldon, whose photo I ran across recently. She played Agent 99 in Get Smart. With both of these actresses, the very young faces they had are what I remember.
