Domain Stuff, and Weather.

The last (domain) sale we made was to a cruise company, and it pleases me because they’re pointing the name to their already-created site and it looks great. (Deaf vacations dot com) Some time back, I wasn’t aware of how often cruise companies will set up trips catering to the deaf. And now I’m aware of a bunch of other companies doing the same thing, but all their trips are for the deaf, not the public in general. I can’t believe some of the places they offer — Cuba, Antarctica. (It’s almost enough to convince me a cruise line won’t make me ill.) Not that I’m deaf.

No, but having a few vision problems. I had to change the resolution on my computer monitor to make everything much bigger. I’ll have to get a pair of glasses from the drugstore, I guess, that just enlarge, for reading books. Most of my glasses are those lineless bifocals type, and I’m finding it really challenging to find the right distance from the computer/book plus the right area on the lens to look through.

The weather here is not the terrible wintry storms other parts of the northeast have had, just a little bit of snow that immediately melted off the street, leaving white stuff just on the grass. And I see by weekend the temperature will again rise back to the 50s. This back-and-forth weather has just ruined the roads, with this freeze then thaw repeating. My town just resurfaced a lot of the streets only 6 months ago, and now they’re a pothole minefield. I have to plan my departures and returns so I remember to avoid the worst bit of road. My car is old and can’t take all that jouncing. But now, the other roads are almost as bad. If only I had a burro.

I read somewhere that use one step weaker glasses for the computer than for reading. My eyes are bad but my hearing is worse.

The computer is much harder on my eyes, even though I use a fairly big monitor. I guess it's the glare; just like being inside shopping malls is really bothersome to my vision -- all those lights. Have you found a hearing aid that is comfortable? My brother has had one for a couple of decades, but I think half the time he doesn't wear it.

Ah welcome to old age--sight is the first to go!
We are having a 'cold wave'--a high of only 72 degrees!!

I'll have to take your word for the temperature, since I wouldn't be able to see the little lines...

I bought stronger readers for use on the computer, so now I have one strength for walking around, another for the computer, and another for reading in bed. To help keep track of which ones, I put a dot of nail polish on the part that is over my ear, works a charm.

That's not a bad idea. Also, I found that my most useful pair of regular glasses is the pair that has very big, wide lenses. I'll have to remember to go for size for future pairs.
