Computing & Technology > Alexa, Play Heavy Thunderstorm

Alexa, Play Heavy Thunderstorm

Spent the day being confused by technology. Finally my amazon echo plays Latin music when I demand, reads me NPR news, and other tricks. But my apple accounts… it’s still not clear why I’m receiving someone else’s emails. Apple is sometimes too complicated for its own good. Years back they offered people “aliases” for their mail — alternative email addresses — and one of these seems to be the source of the alien emails. The email account is apparently a child’s. Once it was mine, but I never used it and as far as I knew it was deleted. Email accounts — AppleIDs — are handled by some special area of support, so it’ll take more calls to fix that.

My house is so much nicer with all the repairs, although I have longer to wait for the new bathroom.

And I am thankful no bears break in to either the house or car, to go potty. I celebrate this by asking Alexa to play thunderstorm sounds.

We also have giant mosquitos which I have dubbed prong horn mosquitos as well as mold in the shower and tornadoes. BTW peroxide and vinegar kills mold. Bleach is only a solution for a short while.

It's the rainy season in Florida, thunderstorms every day, we don't have to ask for the sounds. Hurricane season ends November 2. How can we enjoy summer when named storms crop up every week? I don't have Alexa but will get it. Then I will ask for classical music. When I ask Siri, she screws it up. Thinks Beethoven is Bait Oven. Siri, I says, you really are dumb. She does apologize.

Among our new modern problems I guess is the thought that the Alexa device hears and records its surroundings, and our monitors can be used as spy devices too. Such fun.

Let me know if there is some breakthrough on the Apple emails. Every so often I get one regarding some new purchase I allegedly downloaded from Apple, usually video games. As far as I can tell it's not hitting my credit cards. I always forward them to Apple 'report phishing' but I'm sure they don't care.

That's not great either. They usually tell you to change your password, but I've done that several times and it didn't do anything. It's probably just phishing you're seeing.

I would never have thought of asking Alexa to read me news, but why not!
How aggravating to be getting alien emails!! At least you do not have
bears!!

It would be funny for us to list our local natural threats - bears, tornadoes, mold, beetles. We've all got something.
