After reading troutbend's post, it made me think about how very traditional my decorating tastes run. I don't know why I love antiques so much, but I do. I have antiques in most of my rooms. (I posted a picture of my spare bedroom in December or January after Jimmy moved out and I had to replace all of the drapes and bedding- and boasted about my great find at the QVC outlet.)
My hallway is filled with old family photographs, some of which date back to 1908. I have photographs of my family in nearly every room of the house, and of course, I have artwork everywhere! When I put my house up for sale, the realtor old me I should take down all of my family photographs and replace them with artwork. Something about how prospective buyers feel less inclined to picture themselves in your home surrounded by someone else's family photographs. I put away a whole box of photos but stopped at that entryway hall. I need these photographs around me.
My son hates my furniture. He hates antiques. My furniture will likely go up for auction after I pass on. That's ok. It is what I like, and after I am gone, maybe it will bring as much pleasure to someone else as it did to me.
P.S.: That fantastic find at QVC- an entire luxury bedding set including drapes for about $64 (I think), well, I have been looking to replace my 15 year-old master bedroom set and can find nothing that I like that I can afford, and traditional bedding sets are getting harder to find. I love damask and jaquard, but everything these days is cotton and country.
of getting rid of them. It looks warm and inviting.
