Rush Limbaugh alleges Obama tampered with Isaac forecasts to get the GOP to cancel convention. He went on to note that the Hurricane Center that monitors such things is "the regime," as he put it. "It's the government. It's Obama." Limbaugh said that he grew suspicious because he noticed that the forecast for Isaac shifted dramatically away from Tampa soon after the Republicans canceled the first day of the convention.
Gov. Bobby Jindal, (R) Louisiana, decided not to attend the convention. With Isaac headed right for New Orleans, he knew he was needed at home. In Plaquemines Parish, the storm surge overtopped an 18-mile stretch of levee, sending up to 12 feet of water over the 8-foot-tall barrier. National Guardsmen and residents rescued dozens of people trapped in homes.
In southern Louisiana, more than 656,000 households, or 31 percent of the state, were without electricity Wednesday afternoon due to downed power lines, Jindal said. Some 4,000 people were in shelters, he added.
Another casualty…Yahoo News fired Washington bureau chief David Chalian. "They're not concerned at all. They're happy to have a party with black people drowning," Chalian said over a break during the ABC News/Yahoo News webcast, in reference to the fact that the GOP convention in Tampa is taking place as Hurricane Isaac makes landfall on the north Gulf coast.
Me- I am tired after being up all night. I have the graveyard shift at our building- Midnight to 8 AM. We stay open all night so that our crews have a place to stop, dry out (still raining) take a break, whatever. We have boats on the water 24-7 for security during the Republican National Convention. Two more nights of this….
That is a photo of the barricades placed in the water by the CG to help keep boaters away from Tampa Convention Center. (In the background.) The fear/risk is of bad guys approaching the Convention Center from the water to do harm.
