Non-political Headlines You May Have Missed

1.) Salmonella found in Dutch fish- smoked salmon produced by a company called Foppen that is sold in the USA as well as in the Netherlands. Several hundred people both in the US and the Netherlands were infected. No deaths reported.

2.) A woman sought in Sarasota Florida who was photographed riding/trying to ride a manatee. It is a Federal offense to touch/disturb them.

3.) Oregon farmer, Terry Vance Garner, 69, eaten by his pigs. Terry went out to feed his pigs and never returned. Family members who went looking for him found his dentures, blood and few remains. (Ugh! Please do NOT turn these guys into ham hocks and bacon!)

4.) J.P Morgan faces $20bn fraud suit. This is the first action to come out of a working group created by Pres.Obama investigating the 2008 financial crash.

5.) Mars images show old stream bed. NASA's Curiosity is sending back all sorts of neat images.

6.) U.S. airline finds loose seats. Passenger seats coming loose IN FLIGHT (on American Airlines, one flight was from Boston to Miami and at least two other flights to/from other destinations involved) causes the FAA to request that planes be inspected- and lo and behold, they find more loose seats!

7.) 14 year-old teen girl in Lakeland, FL, chokes 9.5 pound newborn infant to death with umbilical cord, then hid him in a shoebox in her closet.

Wish I could have found a few funny headlines, but the closest to humor was the fat woman trying to ride the manatee... at least I hope all she was doing was trying to ride it!
(Shame on you, Dottie! You can be disgusting!)

Interesting news. Certainly more interesting than what I come up with! That manatee lady was sad. Love her excuse.

Florida is full of half-wits.

I road a manatee years ago. Well, ok, maybe it was more like you said and I found it what it really was after I sobered up, but it was a fun experience. Also an experience that eventually led me to get sober.

It is crazy out in our world. Maybe just to my elderly eyes but I can't
stand cruelty. Had to laugh at the fat woman riding the manatee.

Yes, found her picture and was going to post it today. We'll see.. I am surprised by how much news I pick up from BBC hours before it appears in US news.

Ok, gotta find the dog in the grill. Too bad I missed that!

I saw two different stories about dogs: one went 60 miles from NH to RI after being hit by a car and stuck inside the grille (dog is okay), and the other rode 100 miles under the hood of a Chevy Silverado in California and it was 100 degrees outside (dog is okay). And Google is now bigger than Microsoft because instead of buying software, people are using interactive online applications. I'm struggling with this concept because I think I still need a word processor and spreadsheet program on my computer.

Oh my gosh! You made me laugh out loud! Google's APPs are predominantly for Android phones and tablets. Seems there are two operating systems and one is Apple for iPad and iPod and the other is Android/Droid owned by Google. My Kindle uses some of these APPs but not all of them.
By the way, there is a FREE complete office suite called Open Office. It is made by Sun Micro, the same folks who offer Java (program that makes everything run on PCs and phones.) It includes spreadsheets, a word processor, Draw, etc., etc...I Googled it just now and saw two versions- one by Apache, but I do not know what the difference between them is. FYI: These docs can be opened by Microsoft Office. The suite is perfectly safe, just pay attention as you download/install so that you don't install unwanted add-ons.
