Guilty of Dereliction of Duty

Brush Strokes.

The canvas is the door to my soul
The brush is the key that unlocks
Pieces of me,
Visions of my world.
My art expresses what I see,
What I feel.
I am defined by my brush.

Working on these newsletters is tough. Sometimes I feel like I am translating more than editing, especially when the author's first language is not English. Then there are the guys who string together clichés and phrases that make little sense in the order in which they are written. These guys are very intelligent and capable people. Most of them never had to learn how to write because they had secretaries to take their dictation or entire PR departments to spin their ideas.

When I had to break away to clear my head, I worked on the painting above. It is in oils. Where I can usually kick out a painting in a few days, this one sat on the easel for over two weeks while I did a little now and a little more later. I like it, and it was fun. For once I did not get lost in painting a lot of detail. I did not even paint a background, just colors to create mood. Now it is back to the grind. Catch you guys later!

I love the painting. I see it as a coming to terms with life and the poem is delightful. Hugs and be with us when you can.

What a clever painting! Love the idea of coming out of the canvas.

Dottie I do apologize for not getting back to you but I still have not had down time to finish what you sent me of your book!!! I am eager to find out what all is taking place, like you mentioned you thought I would be kinda surprised at the ending!!! What is your goal, as in # of chapters or pages???!! This painting is so healing for you......that is you coming out of some of your deep grief....well thats my take on it....thankfully you have that therapy in your hands 24/7....with Grad school I am consumed with school so I love it when I see a message from you!!!
Good luck with the editing and proper way of writing, newsletters are read by many many folks!!!!!! Must of been nice for those intelligent gentlemen to have someone else do it!!! I have to write everything in APA format, as if it were a court document. Anyhow, back to work,
be well my friend,
Barb

I wonder what would happen to these guys if their secretaries ever completely left them to their own devices?

Great painting!
I am sure that it can be a major challenge editing the newsletter. I am sure that it comes out great in the end, though.
