Bits and Pieces

I was driving home the other day and had to stop to take this picture. It is one of the "lakes" near my house. Don't know why Floridians call them lakes. They are mostly man-made ponds. Is a pond a lake? Anyone know the difference? I sure don't.

I have a friend staying with me for a while. No, not a boyfriend, just a good friend. (He's engaged.) Anyway, his house is being completely remodeled so he is staying here. It is nice to have company. He is so in love with the woman he is marrying. It's quite touching. Makes me a bit envious... why can't someone love me like that?

Something to brag about... I won the USCG Auxiliary national publications award again for the Breeze. I feel really good about that.

There are seventeen Auxiliary districts within the nation and the district publications officers are responsible for overseeing all of the publications within their districts. (The head of the publications department.) Well, that is what I do. We have some really sharp district publications officers nationwide. Some even have professional experience, so to win at national level two years in a row is quite an accomplishment.

I am big on trying my darnest to teach the publication officers at flotilla and division level (within my district)how to edit, layout and design their newsletters. Most are volunteers with no training or experience and learn 'on the job', so to speak. Well, I think my efforts have paid off because one of the flotilla publication officers within my district took first place at national in the flotilla newsletter category. Now, he really accomplished something because there are well over a thousand flotillas in the country!I am so proud of him!

I have so much to do and no energy today. I think part of that is because I celebrated a little too much last night. Shame on me!

Thank you. BTW: Can't wait to see more of your tree paintings. They are so dramatic!

Loved the picture. Here in Texas, we would call it a pond.

Congrats also!!!

My own question made me research the difference between ponds and lakes, and it is a pond!
