Yesterday morning I wake up to a huge amount of heavy wet snow on the ground. :(
Don't even consider going for a run, the roads are a mess.
The farrier was supposed to come, and we rescheduled, for the third time!
I spent some time out in the field beside my property, digging a ditch from my flooded back field, up a natural low area that then drains back though other fields eventually reaching the irrigation canal. I estimate it will take me another 4 or 5 digging sessions to finish it. And then I'll know if it will work or not. There's only about 20 feet of the ditch that doesn't follow the natural drainage, and the ground is saturated so it's easy digging. But I have to wait for the snow to melt since I can't see the lay of the land well enough to stay in the natural drainage area. I feel bad about digging on someone else's land, but they are absent landowners, and if it works, it will be a big relief to me! I don't want to drain the entire area, just enough that the flooding stays back from the septic field.
I spent most of the day reading the book "The Land of the Painted Caves," the last book in the Clan of the Cave Bear series.
I felt terrible for most of the day, and I wonder if it's either from the weather change, or that I missed my morning exercise, or from laying down and reading! Or I'm getting sick again when I just started feeling right again on Tuesday from having a cold.
Today, I visited the Asian market and bought a herbal cold remedy. It's supposed to be really good, and it's also dirt cheap (especially compared to Cold FX). I've taken two pills, and so far so good.
Thursday was also my first day of not having to work Thursday evenings. I decided to drop the night after working every Thurs evening for over two years now. It just gives me more time for gardening and for time with the kids. Since they are both in school full time, it's not like I need to work evenings to get time away from them.
DH stayed home today to fuss with his boat, do an errand, and then finally start pumping out the standing water. When I got home, it seems that the pump isn't actually pumping... sigh. I took the kids and left. He looks lost, but I'm just a girl, why should I stick around. the kids and I are hanging out at the library, enjoying the high speed internet and Garfield books and movies...
