Fabulous! Thank you for sharing your "adventure". The photos were wonderful. Now I understand "Frank Slide"! Amazing. I'm adding this to my bucket list.

The native peoples called Turtle Mountain "The Mountain that Moves" and they were afraid of it and would not camp near it. The guide pointed out the chert in the slide rubble, and said they had probably climbed all over the mountain to gather chert, and saw the huge cracks in the rock at the summit... the mountain is layers of different types of rock layered over each other, bend upwards at an 85 degree angle, so it is very unstable. (I learned a lot on this trip - I always did enjoy learning natural history).
