Tomorrow is the trip to head smashed in and frank slide. I took the van in for an oil change & check up, and $900 later in repairs, it's in good condition for the 300+ km drive (one way).
It will be just me and the luggage which will be nice! It will be the farthest I've ever driven "alone." I plan to follow the school bus and crank the radio!
Gave DH instructions on feeding the equines. He only has to feed them twice, so hopefully there will be no problems. If he forgets to feed them, they will whinny loudly until he remembers! He and DD have made dinner plans for their night alone.
I've had two parents phone me tonight about the trip. One needs me to drive their kid home after the trip. She works, her DH works in the oilfields for weeks at a time and isn't home, and the nanny doesn't drive. The other, my next door neighbour, was asking for more trip details. Her daughter hasn't been bringing home the info on the trip, and needed to know some stuff!
I'm a bit nervous about the trip. Everything will go smoothly. All the kids will be well behaved. The drive will be lovely. The weather will be beautiful. I will get amazing photos. I will have a good time. I will enjoy the lasagna dinner they are feeding us for supper. Positive, positive, positive thoughts only! (Yeah, I've been reading some self help books lately like Jillian Michael's Unlimited.)
On the running side of my life, I have the 10k road race coming up on July 10. I ran 10k yesterday, 5km straight down the gravel road and back - a route I've never done before. I encountered a dog. It was in a yard, and didn't seem interested in me. 5 minutes later, I look behind me, and it's following me, catching up. It looked friendly. I kept going. It kept following, and was nearly caught up to me, so I stopped. It was VERY friendly. I petted him for a moment, then continued on. I hoped he would run with me, but he went home! I ran 24.4k over 3 days! And I feel fine. I could do more. I'm working on both short, fast runs to get my 5k time to 25 minutes or less, and long runs so I'm more comfortable with 10k+. I like the Nike+ kit I have for my new iPod Nano. It tells me my distance, time and pace so I have feedback on how my run is going.
