The family whose house burned down are doing well. They got tons of community support, and are now in a rental house in town. A developer offered them 6 months free condo rental or $10k. They took the $10k because of their new fear of fire - they want to be in a one story house - easier to get out of in case of a fire. Yikes! The house was furnished with donations and the two kids were given more clothes than can fit in their closets. My NDN helped move them in and organize the house, I would have helped if I didn't have to work. The cause of the fire will not ever be known because it was so fierce that any evidence was destroyed. :(
So work is interesting. In a bad way. I've been picking up lots of extra shifts which is tiring. It makes it hard to keep up with stuff at home. And there is lots of drama. I'm eating lunch the other day, and realize the Director is crying in her office! Eek! And the assistant director is taking an extended "stress leave." And we are still short staffed and waiting for new hires to start... Unless there is a stat holiday, I never get more than one day off of working. That really sucks because even if I'm only working a 3 hour shift, it feels like I never get away from this place.
Oh yeah, where am I right now? At work, but not working. I wanted get some free wifi time, and the wifi at Safeway Starbucks isn't working. This is the only other place to go in town. I'd go to the city, but it's snowing and the roads are too horrid.
But on the good side of things, I got stuck with the kids on Sunday despite having a coffee with friends date planned. So I just brought the kids with me, made sure they had electronics to play with, bought them a donut and drink, sat them at their own table, and it worked!! They were quiet for nearly 2 hours. I was so happy with them! :)
