Ipod Funeral

My little first generation iPod Shuffle that I won is dying. Slowly. It still works, but I can't get it to charge or connect to iTunes, so once it's out of power... it's toast.

I put music and audiobooks on it to listen to while I run and weed the garden. I have the first half of Stephen King's "Gingerbread Girl" on it, but I can't load the second half! I finally put it on my Blackberry so I can listen to the rest of it.

So, I need a new one. My options are a Nano ($140) or a Touch ($250). I'm really leaning towards the Nano since it is smaller, has a built in clip, and is much less expensive. The Touch is amazing, but has many features that I already get on my Blackberry, features that I probably won't use, it's much larger than the Nano, and I'd have to spend even more money on an armband for running with. And, I might replace my Blackberry with an iPhone when the contract is up, so why pay the extra for the Touch?

Thoughts?

My Blackberry can play audiobooks and music, but doesn't remember where I stopped in a book, so it's a pain to use. I like Apple products because I like iTunes - it's easier to use than most media managers.

Sounds like you have figured it out already - the Nano - because you want an iPhone sometime. There's no question you got the value from your iPod Shuffle if you wore it out.

I don't like to waste my money on entertainment so I spend it on valuable items like spinning wheels and drum carders.........oh, wait! That IS my entertainment.

To answer your comment below--she stands less of a chance running into a barn or fence reading a book than 'reading' a whatever you call
it!

Along with Martin, I'm the last person to comment on "toys". Call me old fashion, but my mantra is "give me the simple life".

I find it very helpful to run with upbeat music or a fast-paced audiotbook. Also, the Nano and Touch can be used with Nike + which tracks your running time, pace, distance, etc.

Get rid of the 'toys' that only crowd your life--hold a book in your hands and read it--why buy a nano or a touch/ Do you really NEED it?

Do I absolutely NEED it, well, no. Would I use it, and do I want it, HELL YES! LOL! I LIKE my technology toys, and you must too if you have a computer, internet connect and blog.

And yeah, It`s hard to run while reading a book. I`d run off the road and into the ditch or a tree or a bull`s pasture.

Of course she "NEEDS it". You don't want her to run into a barn door or barbed wire fence while she's read a book, do you?
