Dogs Are Love

I got this in an email and checked it out with Snopes so I’m relatively certain it’s not an urban legend. I cleaned up the grammar a bit but that's all.

If you recall, Parkersburg, Iowa was hit by a tornado a couple of weeks ago. It nearly wiped out the town and seven people died.

This is the email:

Phone rings at work, a man says - do you know so and so. I say yes, he is one of our insured's. He said, I am an auto salvager from Des Moines Iowa and I am at the Water Tower in Parkersburg picking up vehicles and there is a yellow lab sitting in the back seat of a pickup truck, will not come out and so I got in the glove box and found this insurance card.

I said, give me your number, I will call these people and call you back. I call and ask the wife if they had owned a yellow lab, she said YES! (these people have lost EVERYTHING, and are the children of one of the women who died in the tornado).

I say, an auto salvager is picking up your vehicle and there is a VERY ALIVE yellow lab in the back seat of the vehicle. (apparently the back door was open on the vehicle and I would assume he has been in and out of there for days drinking water, at least.)

She starts crying, says, I HOPE THAT IS MY DOG! She calls her husband, (she is in Waterloo today and not at Parkersburg) and he goes out to the tower and sure enough, their missing dog has been found. It has been a week and two days. That dog FOUND their vehicle in the salvage pile and crawled in it, just sitting there waiting for them to come back.

I was in tears after I read this. It shows the pure love that comes from dogs.
