Pet Attraction

I see that the last time I checked in was June 27 and here we are in August now. I have been so busy lately that I am suffering from CRS (Can’t Remember Shit). It seems after Kings (my dog) death in March I have been on the go. I have come to a point in my life I know what my purpose in life is about and it was in front of me all this time and I didn’t know it. Sometimes a tragedy will help you find what your purpose is. It is sad that you have to have something so sudden rip from you to realize what you are supposed to do.

I always knew I loved animals but what I was supposed to do with it didn’t hit me until now. I created a new network group called Pet Attraction . It is pretty much like a blog but about animals in various groups. Pet Attraction ( https://petattraction.ning.com/ ) is about pet advice, animal cruelty, rescuing, adopting, and fostering animals, pet products, pet news, transporting and other topics of interest.

Right now, I have a new addition to the family for awhile. I am fostering a Pit Bull that was supposed to have been transported down to Tennessee on Wednesday but that has been pushed back since the adopter’s husband became unemployed. I promised the people I care for her until they get back on their feet. They were so crushed as they have been waiting for a month for this dog. I saved this dog from a shelter in my area and was one day away from being euthanized. Below is a picture of the dog I saved.

Pet adoptions aren’t what they use to be. Because there is so much abuse, dog-fighting and neglect animals aren’t placed in homes quickly. Adopters have to go through some reference checking such as home checks, vet checks and anything else a shelter or rescue wants to know about you so that the animal is placed in a healthy and safe environment. If an animal isn’t neutered/spayed you have to have the animal fixed before you adopt. If you find a dog/cat in say Connecticut and live in Tennessee then you have to find volunteers to transport the dog to Tennessee. Volunteers are called legs. These transports are posted on many rescue groups and you volunteer your time to drive an hour to the next destination.

It is a process but it is rewarding. I have done 3 transports so far. My first transport was 6 cats coming from Georgia and going to MA. The second was an English Setter coming from Tennessee to New Hampshire. The third was two dogs coming from Tennessee again to CT and the other to New Hampshire.

In the mean time I will help sponsor a dog or donate money to get the animal pulled from the shelter before he/she gets euthanized. It doesn’t matter where the dog is I save them if I can.

Just recently Verizon Wireless had a commercial where there were two Pit Bulls in a junk-yard chained up and a guy jumps over the fence to Dare to touch the phone when the two dogs race him to the phone. I was a little upset over the commercial since we are working hard to change Pit Bulls image and Verizon pulls this stunt. So, a friend helped me with a petition and once that petition got off it went crazy and Verizon received over 7,000 emails from this and phone calls from all over screaming at them. I couldn’t believe what I had just started. Just a simple blog post and bam everyone jumped onto my petition to make Verizon accountable for their actions…Can they hear us know was the slogan. They heard me and took the commercial off.

In addition to that, I am helping someone shut down a dog-fighting ring that is in Tennessee. Hopefully, they will get an investigation going and put these dip-shits in jail. Didn’t they read about Michael Vicks?

If you like pet blogs, try www.dogster.com. My wife really likes that site for blogging(of course it's on behalf of our two pooches.) My pug has a online "girlfriend" there.
