Welcome, Travelers

First off, I burned my elbow on the waffle iron the other night and it itches. I have to keep remembering not to scratch it. No punch line.

I didn't know if this weekend's renters were coming or not because I hadn't heard from them this year. They come from Kansas City. The place was ready for them, but we had a thing in town to do, so left the place unlocked. We apparently just missed them this morning when we left. When we got home at 3 in the afternoon, they had unloaded their stuff and gone fishing so we didn't see them for a couple of hours. It's three or four thirty-something guys who come to fish. I think of it as the frat party, but fortunately not as destructive. When I didn't know if they were coming, I didn't mind one way or the other, but of course the money will be nice to have.

The people who are coming in September are driving all the way from the Florida keys. They are coming to visit their son and daughter-in-law who live in Loveland (where we shop). Saturday I was taking a little nap in the afternoon and the doorbell rang. It was them! They had flown to Colorado for some sort of family celebration and decided to find our place and see if they liked it.

They were reluctant to leave.

What a lovely time of year to come visit! Love your photos, too....

I told them: "of all the people I could think of, you are the last ones I'd expect to ring my doorbell." But it had occurred to me that their son who lives 20 minutes away could have been more hands-on in their initial booking project. However, if he had, he probably wouldn't have found us.

We've had some honeymooners and marriage proposals when people are staying here. One nut job woman was going to have a wedding here, but thank goodness they had a falling out.

The brown palace has so much charm!!

It really does. I wish I felt the other cabin was more charming. Maybe I should change out the living room furniture - something other than Danish modern to make it homier.

Of course, once nature lovers see your place, they will want ot stay. Did they spend a night this time? Beautiful pictures. (For some reason my computer is preventing me from sending you a heart -- just know I wanted to.)

I always suspected Teal was a heartless New Yorker.

start of the season and the place looks great

It's such a pretty time of year. The overnight temp is about 40 degrees so the house stays cool all day. We don't have AC, and don't need it, but if it gets too hot there are fans. Hard to explain this to the tourists.

It's a gorgeous place....

Last year they left some Leinenkugel Summer Shandy (beer with lemonade) in the fridge when they left. This year they bought a giant thing of Blue Moon, and since they are flying home, I'm hoping there will be leftovers.

Next time I see them I'll find out exactly where they live on the Keys and let you know.
