Rare Miniature Panda Cow

His name is Ben, and his mother is a Lowline Angus cow, meaning she's a miniature.

The father is what is called a panda cow, they were specially bred to have the white stripe around their middle and the black eye patches. Little Ben is probably worth about $30,000 because he is one of only 24 of the scarce breed, worldwide.

Miniature farm animals are popular with hobby farmers because they can be house trained and socialized, don't take up a lot of room in the house, and it's easier to get them to the vet.

I like cows. I made friends with a calf that was in the
field across from where I took riding lessons when I was a kid.
But the guy who owned it had to get rid of it because other kids
where harassing it. I'd have a pet cow if I had more land.

I like the cow. I am partial to all animals. If I had the space, I'd let him live with me since you say they can be house trained. I'll bet they don't scratch the furniture.

Cows can be just as loveable as any other animal. I have had cow and calf pets that followed, responded to their names and licked me like a dog does.
They lick their children and cow families and have naps with their families. They are a lot more intelligent than people give them credit
for. Black Angus and Herefords result in a black cow with a white face
like your cow had but can't imagine how they got the white girdle.

$30,000! He would have his own personal home at that price. Didn't know we now had miniature cows.

This cow lives near my home in Colorado, I didn't realize it made the national news.

It's hard to imagine a cow being as loyal and loving as a dog, but maybe they've never had much chance until now. Somehow I doubt lack of opportunity was the problem.
