After Many, Many Years

From Today's Paper:

"Cat back home after more than 13 years

A Santa Rosa, Calif., couple recently had an unexpected reunion with an old housemate: their pet cat who went missing more than 13 years ago.

George, who was last seen by Melinda Merman and Frank Walburg in 1995, was turned in to an animal hospital after the manager of a mobile home park trapped the sickly feline.

A microchip implanted in George allowed him to be traced back to his owners."

I wonder if the cat recognized his former owners. Heck, after that many years, you wonder if they remembered him at all. It would be nice, though, to have some closure after all that time and know what really became of him, but I would feel guilty that he had a hard life.

Here's a link to that "two dudes and a lion" reunion. It's extremely cheesy. Corny. Hokey. And. . . I get little choked up every time I see it.

I heard about a cat that lived in New York City and disappeared every winter. It turned out that the cat also spent a lot of time at a neighbor's house and they thought it was their cat. They took it to Florida every winter. Now that cat really had a great life.

Did you see the you-tube about the reunion of the two men and the lion they raised, then set free? Amazing!

How wonderful that he lucked out. I hope China never escapes, she has no survival skills and coyotes eat cats. My Vet's sheltie and his wife's cat were eaten by coyotes and they live in a densely populated area. He advised me to keep China indoors so she would live to a ripe old age. Evidently he didn't take his own advice.

Sometimes down here, cats allowed to go outdoors are stolen and sold to research labs. Ours are indoor kitties and are too wimpy to dart out when we open outside doors. I am thankful for that.

My step-mother had a cat named Jerry who disappeared from our cabin in Northern Michigan. We thought a wild animal had got him and gave him up for dead. Six years and 200+ miles later he showed up at home. He did seem upset that his food bowl was missing.
