Jimmy Necessary

For some reason this Virginia native/resident's obit is in our local Colorado newspaper. His mother's maiden name was Mustard. Anyone up for a game of Clue?

"James Bascom "Jimmy" Necessary, Sr., age 54, of Tazewell, VA, died Thurs., Aug. 19, 2010, at Tazewell Community Hospital in Tazewell, VA.

He was born Oct. 27, 1955, at Richlands, VA and was a son of the late James Alva Necessary and Dorothy Mustard Necessary. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed working on old vehicles.

Those left to cherish his memories include his loving wife, Pat Necessary; two sons, James Bascom Necessary, Jr. and Derek Necessary, both of the home; one brother, Kenneth Necessary and wife, Debbie, of Thompson Valley, VA; two sisters, Sue Parker and husband, Bill, of Parkville, MO, and Joyce Asbury of Tazewell, VA; special aunt, Mildred Fair of Woodberry, NJ; special cat, Smokey; several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends."

I'm like you. I wonder why it was "necessary" to publish his obit in the Colorado paper. Sorry! I just couldn't pass on that one!

Very interesting. One of Adrienne's friends is named Emotion which is quite the strangest first name I have ever seen.

That's kind of disgusting, like naming someone 'Panic' or 'Laughter.' Emotion Jones just doesn't have a good ring about it, not like Sorrowful Jones.

Names not bad.I do not see too many Alfredo there

It's a good thing to not see your name in the paper, even if it's with a different last name than yours.

They're not naming kids like that any more. Maybe Jimmy spent time in Colorado and the family wanted his friends to know. We get lots of obits here of northern people who were snowbirds.

Maybe the local paper will expand on the death notice and it will become clear what his connection is to this area. I got the details from the Virginia newspaper that says he lived and died in Virginia and all his family lived in Virginia and other eastern states.

When I worked at a bottling works (Pepsi, Crush, Lipton's Iced Tea, etc) we had an employee named Ernie Gotobed.

I enjoy these interesting last names and seeing what first names are put with them.

Some people take the newspaper just for the obits.

I don't read the obits for Las Vegas, although they can be very interesting, partly because so many relatively young people there die, and we don't know what of like sometimes we do around here.

I wonder why that was in your paper? Intereting. I like the names...

I'm hoping to find out more about what his local ties were.

I grew up in Bascom, Ohio.

I was thinking these people sounded more like West Virginia than Virginia, and WV is almost Ohio, so maybe they have ties to Bascom OH back somewhere in time.

I get the impression these people might have Amish history in their lineage. Those last names like "Fair" and "Necessary" remind me of Amish or Mennonite names. Interesting obit.

Good point, there is a lot of dignity in those names.
