I drove to town early this morning to get new tires on the car. I went window shopping while I waited for them to be installed. Most of the time when I go to the stores Mr. Troutbend is there, and I don't get a chance to take time to look at things. So spending an hour just browsing was a lot of fun. I didn't want to buy anything because I didn't have the car and although I could have worked it out, I waited until the car was all done to go back and buy things.
What did I buy?
Weed and feed, two big bags of it, and a "honey sweet" melon. The honey sweet is supposedly based on a 500 year-old variety of melon from China. The inside looks like a cantaloupe, but unfortunately I don't think it's ripe enough, so it's not all that impressive. A couple of weeks ago I tried a "lemon drop" melon. It was definitely tangy and had a citrus flavor. I'm glad to see these different fruit varieties available around here.
Then I went over to Home Depot and bought some tarp clips to crunch in the corners of the tarp that I bought last week. It goes over the plywood box that covers our water pump out in the back yard during the winter. The idea is to keep snow from sitting on the flat top of the box. Up until now we haven't worried about the corners, we just anchor the thing down with some rocks and a log, but I think these clips will add a nice touch.
Next was Wal-Mart where I bought a lamp shade and a multi-pack of long knitting needles, sizes 8 through 10, and cables so I can listen to my iPod through the car speakers and charge it in the car on long trips.
And the things I looked at: charcoal grills, deep freezers, vacuum cleaners, floor steamers, pots and pans, towels, bath rugs, books, clothing.
Oh! It was fun.
