Dead ants from a tree stump.
Three young deer. They were afraid of the garden.
Blurry shot of Eloise in the sun.
I have to explain the No Smoking sign: We have a family friend who thinks she is part of our family and she invites herself to my house when I'm not here. I'll be in Las Vegas and she'll email me: "I want to get up to the cabin some time." Not 'your cabin' or 'do you mind' but The Cabin as if it's the family place and she's family. I don't really mind, but think it is odd. One spring when I came home, I found cigarette butts all over the front porch (and out in the yard near the front door). Her old boy friend was sitting out there smoking, and used a tin can for an ashtray, and they forgot about it, so it sat out there all winter and the wind blew the can over. I figured This is what it feels like to have a son-in-law: could do without him, but he's part of the package because she likes him. I found that sign in one of the garages and put it in there as kind of a joke. But not a joke.
Two of the five bird feeders behind our house.
I'm not sure why I took this picture, maybe I was just testing the camera. We have about 40 to 50 birds. They all come at once at dawn and dusk.
