A Nice Day Off

I took advantage today of an opportunity to totally relax. It really isn't because I don't have things that I should be doing. Instead, it is because I decided to just relax. Ray and I did our usual Saturday morning grocery shopping run, but after that, I did everything but the work I should be doing.

For one thing, the fall semester is quickly approaching, and I really should be working on updating the syllabi for the two courses I am teaching this coming semester. There is not a ton of changes that I have to make. I do have to update the calendars to reflect the new year, and I know I have an assignment in each course that I really do want to change/update. I don't think either will take a long time to do. The big part is converting the syllabi so I can set them up in the online interface that we use at URI, which is called Ssakai. it is mostly a lot of copying and pasting and setting up different parts of the site so they are ready for the students. I figure I should be able to do that all tomorrow ... if I am good. LOL!

Instead, I ended up joining some friends for a late lunch and some shopping. I got quite a few gift cards from various people to celebrate by departure from the Greenville Public Library. I bought a desk clock for my new office, a few movies for entertainment, and two Wii games that I have been wnating for a while.

I know that Martin will want to know what I had for lunch and where. We went to Uno Bar & Grill, and I had a favorite of mine that is constantly changing. It is a TURKEY BACON & SWISS sandwich, which is described in the menu as an "All-natural turkey breast with honey mustard, lettuce, tomato and red onion on a three-seeded roll." I really love it, though, they are constantly changing the bread portion of it.

We did the shopping portion of the day after eating. it was fun all around.

Oh I thought you meant the 'bacon' was made out of turkey--turkey bacon--no?

Do you still play cards with the old ladies?

OOooh! It was a sandwhich with sliced turkey, bacon, swiss cheese, lettuce, and tomator.
We are sort of in transition for our cards. One group is moving around a bit since the woman who owned the home we played at passed away a few weeks ago. Her roommate is in the process of moving into Bradford Court, the senior community where the other card group lives. She is waiting for the apartment to be readied (painting, recarpeting etc.)
The other group has been trying to get reset up since a number of the members have had various illnesses. One hurt her back and has been struggling with a blood disorder. One had really bad pneumonia. And then there was Ray's various adventures this summer.

It's always good to eat before shopping so you have some energy.

'Instead, I ended up joining some friends for a late lunch' OMG! OMG! Lunch with friends--what next???? People over the house to play cards with???

If you can find a way to talk Ray into hosting people, you are a miracle worker. He is dead set against it. I have never really understood why. He is more than happy to play the cards. He just doesn't want to be the host.
I think there was only one slice of cheese. I would have thought you would have been more concerned about the bacon.
