Hello all.
I weathered the storm. Sort of. I left Houston this afternoon and have taken refuge in another harbor, Austin.
Ike devastated my neighborhood. It was much worse around my neighborhood than some of the surrounding ones. Maybe we had a tornado, I am not certain.
I had power until about 4 AM Saturday morning. The eye of the storm passed directly through my area. It was a wild night. As of this afternoon, clean up has barely begun and I did not see any Centerpoint Energy trucks working in my area, even though we are just down the street from a major Hospital.
We had a tree fall and take out the condensing unit of our AC. Crushed it like a beer can. I drove around and took pictures of the neighborhood. I did not take any pictures where there was personal property damage. There were a fewhouses with trees through roofs. A few were trees had crushed cars in driveways. You will get the picture.
Amy, M and J are safe. They have been at J's mother's. She got power back yesterday. Amy's mom and dad got power back this afternoon. Us, well, let's say the prognosis for us get power back anytime soon are not very good.
Here are some first hand pics of Ike's devastation in my neighborhood.
This is my backyard.
