Safe Harbor for a Pirate

Hello all.

I weathered the storm. Sort of. I left Houston this afternoon and have taken refuge in another harbor, Austin.

Ike devastated my neighborhood. It was much worse around my neighborhood than some of the surrounding ones. Maybe we had a tornado, I am not certain.

I had power until about 4 AM Saturday morning. The eye of the storm passed directly through my area. It was a wild night. As of this afternoon, clean up has barely begun and I did not see any Centerpoint Energy trucks working in my area, even though we are just down the street from a major Hospital.

We had a tree fall and take out the condensing unit of our AC. Crushed it like a beer can. I drove around and took pictures of the neighborhood. I did not take any pictures where there was personal property damage. There were a fewhouses with trees through roofs. A few were trees had crushed cars in driveways. You will get the picture.

Amy, M and J are safe. They have been at J's mother's. She got power back yesterday. Amy's mom and dad got power back this afternoon. Us, well, let's say the prognosis for us get power back anytime soon are not very good.

Here are some first hand pics of Ike's devastation in my neighborhood.

This is my backyard.

Oh heavens! Glad you and yours are safe and well. Your property and those around you have undergone quite a lot of damage. It will take time to get back together again, I fear. I heard about the electricity problem! Goodness! Hope things get back to normal soon...

Make a new Hurricane Party where you are1 I'm so glad you're safe and dry, along with those you love.

WOW thankfully your safe. I talked to my sister (Killeen, TX) and she said they got a bit of wind but that was it. Glad your safe & it doesn't look like too much damage (I HOPE)

Oh me! I am glad that you are safe and that M, J, and Amy are safe. We lived in the Dickinson/League City area for about two years in the early 90's. I can't imagine what it is like there. We were only 8 miles from Galveston Bay. Looks like it is good thing that you left there. I hope that Nenah on here is fine! No one on here that I know of has heard from her.
