Weighing in on Obama's Agenda?

I got an E mail from my AF (activist friend) with a link to a site where I could weigh in on the important issues Obama should deal with first. I didn't go to the link. Here is what I wrote her.

Dear ...,

Obama has a major mess to undo. He needs to focus on what he identifies as the most important issues to deal with in the next few months. In other words, first things first. He is only now getting inside information that was not available to him before. I have heard it said that incoming presidents have sometimes freaked when they have been informed of the major disasters facing them that were never released to the public.

We all have our agendas. Many people weighing in to tell him what they want is not useful. I voted for him because he is the most competent leader to emerge in this country in the last fifty years. I trust him to make the right choices right now.

For one thing, he has already stated the economy is first. He also said he will immediately withdraw restrictions on providing financial aid to developing countries only if they NOT provide birth control information to their people (one of Nancy Reagan's pet projects in forcing women to have unwanted children because they were "bad" -- no abortion, no information to avoid pregnancy, no life -- that's whatcha get for having sex).

Yesterday Obama said he is putting apprehension of Bin Laden down as a top priority. I don't care how he does it. I am sure he will be discreet, whatever his plan. Shutting down Guantanamo is also high on his list. All of this sounds pretty good to me.

I am sure he will take care of the environment, deal with alternate energy sources, drill only when necessary and everything in an orderly, deliberate sequence.

In other words, having a bunch of citizen gnats buzzing around his head can only add to his burden and it is huge.

I have seen incoming presidents go from black to gray within weeks of taking office. I do not want to add a single gray hair.

I trust him.

xx, Teal

I can't wait to see Obama overturn all the stupid things Bush has done. He'll restore dignity to the White House and country. Have you noticed the incredible rise in gun sales recently? All those wackos believing he'll ban weapons, so they're stocking up. I fear those crazies, not the president-elect.

Me too, Teal. He has been handed so many things to worry about. I am also glad of stem cell research. What happens to cord blood ? It is full of stem cells, I can't see ever discarding it.
