More Sadness

Our friends, Jean and Danny, who adopted Buster, my late friend John’s West Highland Terrier, had to put him down yesterday in the face of a diagnosis of a massive cancerous tumor in his intestines. They checked with more than one vet, they ran around like crazy people trying to save him. He couldn’t eat, he was in pain. They are heartbroken and so am I. Everyone in their family is crying -- three kids, mom and dad, and Daisy, the dachshund. In six short months Buster had become a treasured member of their family giving them love and laughs as he played with Daisy and did doggy things. I am grateful that he had a loving family to take care of him in these last sad months since John died.

I am crying too.

xx, Teal

I'm so sorry. It was so nice that you were able to treasure John's memory by finding a good home for Buster and his last days were happy.

Yes, and in the scheme of things, it's just as well John went first, because he couldn't have helped Buster as much as his foster family did. The little guy had skin issues. They bathed him twice a week. Administered meds, gave him a first class diet. He was happy there, had formed a bond with the whole household. They are all devastated.

This is so sad. Sometimes we can't save them but we can cherish their
legacy of love and dogginess.
