Sabotaged by My Teeth

I finally got over the vertigo but two nights ago developed a toothache. I haven’t had one in a thousand years. I got an emergency appointment and the dentist fixed a little crack, but said he was concerned about tooth 30 next to it, which he thought might have an abscess. He fixed the crack and phoned the next day to check on the pain. I seemed to be getting better, so he decided not to refer me. But that night, the jaw started throbbing big time.

I made an appointment with the specialist (over the bridge in Fort Myers, but do-able) for next Wednesday. Meanwhile, lots of pain so I got a prescription for a broad spectrum antibiotic and I think the pain will subside as the infection is dealt with. Ed had a high potency med in his cabinet and I am taking it. Tylenol was a bust.

We had our 2001 Isuzu SUV repainted – it is a deep red. It looks like new. Ed loves it and won’t give it up. I’ll be using it mostly so it is nice that it is cleaned up. It was really rusting out. Yes, I know the Hyundai is “mine” but Ed prefers so it so that’s the story. As long as I have wheels, it is no big deal.

Well, last night, I got into a hot tub because it is truly relaxing and I needed to undo the tension from the pain. I use a cover over the drain because I like to have water up to my neck. I fell asleep. The water overflowed and it took me a couple of hours to deal with it and the rug in the dressing room is still wet. I hope I remember to put slippers on if I have to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. But that nap felt so good. I used lots of towels and an old bedspread to soak up the water and did two laundries on “sanitize”. More to go.

Ed has started his cardio rehab and his blood pressure was tested before and after with a remarkable improvement. Years of me trying to persuade him to exercise has done no good. He needed a near-death experience. He is buying a treadmill. Will wonders never cease.

Somehow the treadmill is not the same;I prefer walking outside where
I can be distracted by what is going on. My exercise equipment goes
unused. Let's hope Ed loves it.

We had a klunky old treadmill in the garage that I bought for $10 at a yard sale. It always had stuff on it. I gave it away because I wasn't using it. Ed is planning to buy a fold-up kind from a ward who is never, ever, going to use anything again and if we keep it in the house, he can watch TV while he is on it. He also wants me to buy him an iPod (wonders continue to escalate). Yes, I prefer walking outside but haven't been doing that because my back has not been reliable. Working back to some real activity.

A treadmill can be a very effective piece of exercise equipment but not when there are pattern books, needles, tote bags and yarn piled on them.....sigh. Hope your tooth is feeling better soon.

Thanks for good wishes ... the antibiotic is doing its work. Ed plans to buy a fold-up treadmill ... because I haven't been walking outside, I think I will be using it too.
