So pleased you managed to connect. Sorry about the libraries, and your frustrations are well taken. We're lucky in my area not to be plagued with too much teen mischief although about 4 years ago a bunch of renegades did slash tires in the middle of the night in at least 25 driveways. I hope you manage to connect again. So sorry you can't get on line more often. hugs from the other boonies, T.
For this reason we do not board our shelter rescued kitties when we have to be away overnight. We get someone to stay at the house with them. Brunswick, I have mentioned, was fostered when he had pneumonia, then returned to the shelter. When we got him, he didn't trust that he had a home because he had been traumatized with the loss of his foster mom. But he learned to trust us and was a super kitty. I miss his very much.
I like it. You should keep on with portraits along with your outdoor scapes. I love portraits.
Elegant post, beautiful kitty. Will be eager to see your new painting.
It was a typo. I meant to say trained chickens. Although, really, how could one tell? It's not like they did tricks. Sat up and begged, or anything.
Hope she loved it. I do.
We all know I won't make this. In my view, if food tastes great (like steak) without fuss, why gummy it up with 13 more ingredients? I'll leave the fancy stuff for restaurant visits. Speaking of which, a new Greek restaurant has opened in Fort Myers and Ed and I tried it. It is so new, it doesn't have a liquor license yet. It specializes in gyros and souvlaki but will have specials. I had chicken souvlaki. The cooking is fantastic. We will definitely go again. The waitress, recently arrived from Greece, and I bonded instantly and spoke Greek for the rest of the experience.
I never thought my family was dysfunctional until my brother-in-law involved into a rabid right wing nut case and thought he owed it to me to straighten me out. Having a child with issues is the most draining thing. It's disappointing to realize you were a way station instead of a destination. It is what it is. I'd come just for you.
Wildlife has cost us about $5,000 over the past two years. Possums in the attic requiring replacement of pipes for the entire house and replacing the insulation. But I don't want them harmed, just caught and released in the wild. And Lester, the palm rat kept chewing our dishwasher hose. Bad Lester.
Many who adopt pets from a shelter have very little understanding of what they have been through. Returning them is their solution and this is devastating. I have had initial behavior problems with my adopted cats and time and love solves it all. It's why we get someone to come to the house and cat sit when we go anywhere overnight instead of boarding them. Our Brunswick, the best kitty ever, had pneumonia and a volunteer nursed him back to health and then returned him to the shelter where we eventually found and adopted him. Think how he felt when he thought he had a home and then found himself back in bedlam. So he was schizzy for about a year and didn't want to trust anyone. But we finally got through to him. He was wonderful.
What you might do, is ask one of your grand kids who is techie savvy, to help you post a photo of your doggies. I mean, what are grand kids for?
I only have tips for cats. For what it's worth, sequester resident animals in a spare room. Bring in new animal, let him sniff around. Sequester new animal in another room, bring out resident animals, let them sniff around. Then they all no there's something new. Then introduce them. Good luck.
Have to try Annie Proulx. You appear to have a dream volunteer job. Sorry Ted's energy level is low. What does his doc say?
You might try a biofeedback diet plan that takes no effort. It worked for me -- here it is, for what it's worth. Every morning, use same scale, before or after bathroom, same weight clothing, always the same, weigh yourself. Write no. down with date on sheet of paper. Put target weight in lower right corner, something reasonable -- 10 bs. or so. When you reach target weight, you can start with a new targt no. Do nothing else. Your psychology about eating will change without your hardly noticing. It took a couple of months for me to see a difference, then every day after that my no. went down. If you can't listen to yourself, this might not work. I lost 20 lbs. in 4 months. And I have been able to go lower -- from 125 to 105 as of this morning. I don't want to lose any more. Good luck.
With tutoring from my talented friend, I knit one sweater 30 yeas ago, using multi colored yarn. I didn't put the pieces together for a year, being afraid they wouldn't match. Finally I joined them and the sweater was great -- the weave was a little tight on the first arm, but not seriously so. Now I've forgotten how to do this. Sigh. So I am in awe of your work.
