There are houses on our island with fireplaces, but they are rarely used because ospreys nest in the chimneys. It is illegal to mess with osprey nests. We do get cold snaps but if they last too long, manatees and dolphins die. Enjoy your Thanksgiving.
All lovely, but the first one is my favorite.
sending hugs to Rinpoche and hope he beats this
My husband had his Mazda 11 years - at the end, the A/C didn't work, replaced it and that didn't work -- New York summers were killing us. We couldn't get a trade in, so we got a tax write-off for a donation. We then got an Isuzu Rodeo that had been returned to the dealer on a bad deal. We paid $22,000 marked down from $28,000. We had that for 16 years. Ed kept repairing it, even had it repainted and the guy who did it had to re-roof it since it was corroded. That kept it going another two years. We then got a trade-in for a Toyota Highlander. When Ed left the dealer with the new SUV, they were checking to see if they still had their wallets. He drives a hard bargain. It took us all day. Ed still thinks he could have got a better deal. Maybe it's time you did something about a new car, because your car is getting too old and you will constantly be repairing it and you won't get a trade in if you wait forever.
I can't grow anything. When I succeeded one year, a hurricane destroyed my flowering bushes in minutes. My friend gave me tomato plants and told me how to care for them. I followed his instructions carefully. They died. A neighbor gave me several potted plants to tend while she was away. I should have warned her. They died.
Very few Democratic voters advertise their choice during election time because Republicans vandalize. Island went for Obama twice. I am not sure about 2016 mood. I wouldn't take an absence of signs as definitive. It has always stunned me that people who were thrilled with Obama would swing for the Orange Porker. Stupid comes to mind.
If you can function and interact with loving friends, then it's worth the effort. Don't give up just yet.
Her address will have it. Our address in Queens did not say, Queens, it said Forest Hills, New York. Let me know when you learn what it is. I'm curious. Yes, Forest Hills is upscale and it is right next to Forest Hills Gardens, a private community, not part of New York City (designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, who designed Central Park). You cross into it by going under the Long Island Railroad trestle. When you come out on the other side, you are in a different world. You not only no longer hear traffic noise, you are in bloody OZ. I used to go there to get my fantasy fix.
What part of Queens did Laura move to? Ed's apartment, that I moved into when we married, was in Forest Hills.
It's good you were able to persuade Ted to not do the battery thing. We've hired a guy on a monthly fee, to do all our landscaping. He still hasn't dealt with one bush, so Ed says "I'll do it." I said, "We're paying Remi -- let him do it." Ed is using a cane these days, so he doesn't remember how hard it is to do stuff like that.
I haven't been to a fair grounds ever. I did love "Riverview", an amusement park in Chicago with awesome rides and a haunted house. And Mom would give us each 25 cents for the day -- the rides were pennies each. But I did start horseback riding in highschool -- that took us (my sis and I) out to rural country. We'd spend the day at "the barn".
I've been out of the work force a long time. I remember good bosses and bad bosses. My complaint about the bad bosses was in how they interacted with their subordinates, not that they got to the office late. The good bosses worked with you to improve your contribution and get promoted. The bad ones took credit for your ideas and you never got the raise or the promotion, he did. I had one boss who never wanted me to complete a lunch time. He'd find me in the break room 15 minutes before the hour and suggest that maybe I should be back at my desk, like somehow I was loafing instead of using my allotted time.
I have dozens of things to do each day that I don't want to do. Chief among them is making dinner and clean-up. I need to use the treadmill that I haven'been able to do because my back is bad. I start and have to stop. So that is preying on me as well because not working out is not an option. too many things keep getting screwed up.
Also I tried to view my on-line Verizon bill and the site wouldn't recognize either number associated with the account. So I called Verizon and the rep said my account page would have to be re-set. Then I got an e mail that said since I had elected to get a paper bill, one would be in the mail. Do you get the disconnect?
Hope all goes well and you get to go on your fun trip. Regards to Cath. She seems unusually friendly for an ex. I admire her (and you).
whatever makes you happy sweetums.
I haven't been to a museum since about 1995 when I took my late friend, Penny (tears here) and her daughter Stephanie, to the Met. I took a photo of them standing under a huge metal horse, under the balls no less. It was a funny moment. It's time to go to a museum again. :(
