A Just Death

One of the reasons I am not offended by public demonstrations of joy at the death of Osama bin Laden is the death of Daniel Pearl, Wall Street Journal reporter, who was beheaded by Muslim terrorists in Karachi, Pakistan on February 1, 2002 at the age of 37. He left a wife and two children. His body was cut into ten pieces and buried in a shallow grave in the outskirts of Karachi. It was discovered on May 16, 2002 and is now in a grave at Mount Sinai Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles.

Bin Laden richly deserves his fate. I think our forces showed great restraint in not parading his head on a stick as the terrorists have done with Western victims.

In Googling Daniel Pearl, I learned there is an unedited video of his execution. It is described as so much more gruesome and vile than anything allowed on U.S. television, that I decided not to look at it.

I don’t think rejoicing at bin Laden’s death makes us like “them”. They rejoice over evil. We rejoice when evil is stopped. There’s a big difference.

xx, Teal

This is very good reasoning on a touchy subject. I applaud you.
