Ethnicity - Who Knew?

Ed and I both paid for a DNA analysis with Ancestry.com. Here is my breakdown and I am only 65% Greek. Who knew? (Don’t tell my mom.)

Caucasus? I have ancestors from the Caucusus? Perhaps descended from Chengis Kahn? (which would account for my personality, Ed claims), 5 % Jewish? Soul mates! after all, I said to Ed. No wonder I can’t relate to Elvis and Gidget.

• 65% Italy/Greece
• 15% Europe East
• 9% Caucasus
• 6 More regions

• Europe East15%

Ed's surprise was that he has 8% Iberian (Spain) and 2% North African io his analysis. And, no surprise, 87% Eastern European Jewish.

This sounds like fun. To my knowledge, I am French, English, Dutch
and a smidgen Irish. We are just melting pots.

I hope Oprah isn't correct.... Maybe I'll skip it.

According to what we know, I'm Irish/English/Scottish/German. A hematologist told me that the sort of blood cell anomaly that I have is usually only seen in people with African heritage. Talk about 'don't tell my mom,' but it's okay with me.

it's tantalizing, isn't it. Along with the information, it would be super to see photos of ancestors ... but that ain't possible.

This would be fun to do and find out something unusual. I believe I'm part Dutch, part German, and part white trash.

I was surprised to know I am only 65% Greek. Both my parents were born in Greece. My father was dark, I thought maybe I had some Turkish roots, but turns out more Eastern Europe. You can pay membership fee for more access, and ways to connect with possible relatives, but I am not doing that. Can't keep up with the cousins I know.

Damn! I have to look into dong this. I think I'm 75% German and 25% Irish. Doesn't look like the results would be that specific but it might say mostly western Europe or something like that.

You could get a surprise. Ed's surprise was North African roots. Mine was 5% Jewish? Also, Caucasus? Whee.
