What I have lately been contemplating is an America that gives opportunity to the many and those who make itto the very top, turn the backs on those who are not able to do the same and turn into greedy souls who vote for Republicans intent on destroying every humane program we have so they can get more money out of the system. In their minds, those who need help to survive are deadbeats and free loaders, and don’t deserve a leg up.
For every one of the wealthy who care about others, people like Bill Gates and Warren Buffet, there are thousands of millionaires who sit back and smile when the government wants to give them a tax break even though the money will come from the health plan and other areas that help the masses.
I blame in specific those who profit from health care – the insurance companies. Why are they complicit? They are super rich and they want more and they are afraid that if they actually help their customers, that somehow they will lose.
That is why we need regulations –- because so many ignore the common welfare so long as their personal bubble is okay. Many people have to be led to support good works. Just waiting for a perfect world doesn’t work.
I am sorry to say we are a nation largely uninformed, mostly spaced out with the here and now, and think gains are forever and we don’t have to be alert for thugs like the Republicans in Congress and, specifically, in the White House. And, for whatever reason, when things go wrong, red states still vote for Republicans even though those populations are precisely the ones who need aid programs more than any others. Trump has been right about only one thing, and I quote him, “Republicans are stupid.â€
