November 5, 2008. Greetings from deep south Mississippi!
I didn't listen to the election returns last night--the intermidable drone and speculation about who was ahead and inane blather by politial pundits was too annoying. At 4am this morning I turned the radio on to BBC and heard that Obama had won.
This is what immediately ran through my mind, from The Wizard Of Oz: "Heigh Ho, the wicked witch is dead..." Meaning that GW Bush and his evil cronies have only a few weeks left in office. Smile time! Now Bush can go back to his farm in Texas and do the only thing he has proven to be qualified for: Cutting down brush.
Obama is coming into office with tons of garbage dumped onto him, leftovers from the mess Bush and his cabinet has made. It'll take a long time for Obama to come up for air and work to clear some of the detritus dumped into his lap. I do hope he will find a place for Hillary in his cabinet. He is going to have to surround himself with the sharpest, most intelligent and capable cabinet in our history.
I am a senior citizen, a white female whose parents were prejudiced and used the "N" word routinely. Somehow myself and most of my siblings grew up with an open mind, and were dismayed at what Bush has done. I was so ready for change I voted Democratic in the presidential and all state elections. No matter what Obama and his cabinet do, they would have to try hard to top the fiasco Bush has made.
There is one thing his security detail needs to do. Get Obama a bullet proof "Popemobile" because you can bet there will be some idiots who will try to bump him off.
Yes, the self proclaimed "Decider" is going down as the worst president in history. Make way for the "The Unifier." I have my fingers crossed and hope I live long enough to see what happens. susil.
