Hard Hat/hard Head

Yesterday I did up all the laundry, folded and put it away and cleaned my little shack. It's taken me 30 years to pay off  my shack, and it's falling apart. Something always has to be maintained/and or repaired here. If I wasn't so hardheaded I'd move to town and give up the wonderful life of shack ownership.
Now and then I hear snaps and creaking in the joists and figure termites have eaten the wood frame and the bricks are the only thing holding this place up! I oughta wear a hard hat on my hard head around the house cause I never know when the roof will crash down.
I'm sure backing up on the carport and knocking one of the posts holding up the front porch out of kilter didn't help. Cuzzin Bubba came with a sledgehammer and hammered it more or less back in place. I bet all that hammering didn't bother the termites and their cuzzins one bit.
Bye y'all, good weekend to one and all. susil

It seems that way sometimes. Everything needs a lot of maintenance.

I kept hearing snaps, pops, or something and finally figured out it was the tree squirrels throwing pine cones out of the trees at the roof and gutters.

Perhaps it was a home owner who first uttered the line, "It's always something!!" Cars and homes must be the worst for upkeep and maintenance, but it's so true of most everything one owns. My poor sofa is crying out for new upholstery. I'd hate to replace it, which might be cheaper, but I love the dear comfortable old thing.

Hard to give up on some things. I've only got a few years to go before mine is paid off so I guess I better get busy and start maintaining it better.

Sounds like a real handy-man special. I know how you feel, tho, although mine isn't as bad. But the paint job I did when I bought the place needs touch-up from bubbles, and the sump pumps needed to be repiped (which is done), and the bathroom floor needs to be replaced... yeah, I suppose I could do a blog like yours.... ugh.... Good luck with it... get Bubba back to work!

Before you move into a box under a bridge (Edward's personal nightmare scenario), remember you have friends.
