After days of dark overcast, rainy chilly weather, the sun came out this morning--wonderful glorious sunshine! The earth is soggy, saturated, water puddled everywhere. Deer hunters, fueled by ego and testosterone have torn up dirt roads all over the place, as if the muddier their pickup, the more macho they are.
Mi casa looks dreadful now--grass all dead and brown, the stumps in the yard I've never had a stump grinder take out look ugly. Leaves all over the yard--I phoned my yard guy to run over the leaves with the mower to mulch 'em up but he's off in Colorado elk hunting and won't be back for 2 weeks. I would hate for any one of you to see my place now.
I came out of hibernation and drove down to Lucedale, a pretty stretch of up and down roll-y highway, cut through pine forests. Prisoners were picking up trash by the road. Went to Walmart to see what kind of leftover Christmas stuff they had for sale, and they had a lot of it. I bought a couple of things then went to Hudson's Dirt Cheap where the odds and ends of a linen shipment were on sale, at a deep discount. I shoulda gone 10 days ago when it started.
Found a navy blue king size fitted sheet for $2, and a baby blue top sheet for $2--I don't care if they're different colors. Also found six pillowcases, each of a different color for 25 cents each. All those different colors might look good together.
Then went to Pizza Hut for lunch--enjoyable day, and didn't spend much.
As an aside, noticed a bare limbed tree with pink buds on it and thought at first it was a peach tree, then realized it was a Japanese Magnolia, (the dumb blonds of the plant world.) Give them three days of above freezing weather, and these ditzy optimists bud and just as they bloom out, get frozen by the next cold snap. Same every year. Bye y'all,
susil.
