Dolly was away Friday evening through last night. She called my mother about something else and told her that I had written a letter and to watch for it. That may solve my problem of whether she will actually get it.
Kitty played outside most of the afternoon with the neighbor girls, so we still didn't get any Halloween decorations up. Grandpa is after us to tell him a few things that she would like for Christmas and we still haven't gone through some catalogs to try to figure that out either. She played the time away.
One of our errands was a trip to a hardware store for sand. I bought three 50lb bags for the base of the punching bag. We bought, she helped, but couldn't really because they are heavy. I put in two of the bags and tried it out with some punches and kicks down in the garage. The base slides a lot. The directions say to put 200lb of sand (or water). Perhaps with the full weight it won't slide so much, but considering we still have to figure out a more "permanent" solution for it, semi-mobile is better.
Afterward it occurred to me that since I'm osteoporotic, I shouldn't be hefting around 50lb bags because of the risk of vertebral fracture, but that raises a good question for my rheumatologist: what restrictions should I follow? In reading the osteo materials, I see all these restrictions about not lifting, toe touching, etc. Basically, a bunch of things that I normally do, that haven't been a problem.
My back is stiff today, but that's expected from moving the bags around and carrying sleepy Kitty to the car for the trip to the airport.
Yesterday after finishing the laundry, I sat in the grass for a bit, read a magazine, and watched the chickens roam around the yard. I had brought out a bowl of cottage cheese for them. They devoured that as usual. Dolly says the girls are "cheese beaks" when they do that. Afterward, they clean their beaks by sliding them in the grass.
I need to get out the shovel today and see about repairing all the holes and dirt piles from Mr Gopher.
