Is War Coming?

The war profiteers must be licking their collective
chops.  The world again teeters on the
brink of violent conflagration on two fronts.  In the Mideast, Syria is ripping apart and its ally, Iran, continues
work on nuclear capability.  In the
middle of all this sits poor Israel, threatened on all sides by 13th Century barbarian Arabs who still cut off heads and hands and force females to
wear facial coverings and remain subservient.  To the Israelis President Obama has pledged that “we have your back.”

In North Korea, which is also furiously approaching
nuclear capacity while its citizens starve to death, a puppet leader barely out
of childhood is having his strings pulled by his military and issues bellicose
threats about bombing the U. S.  Feeling
threatened by the world’s resultant alarm, they continue to shoot off rockets
and have disavowed the armistice that has kept them at bay since 1953.

Meanwhile, in those countries where we have spilled
American blood and spent billions of taxpayer dollars, nothing has
changed.  Iraq and Afghanistan are no
more stable now than when we first sent in our military, and the military
industrial complex continues to roll in our devalued currency.  No Pentagon general, nor any defense industry
lobbyist, will ever back away from our spineless politicians who, for their
part, will continue the same obscene malarkey about how we must protect our
suburban housewives from the heathens on the other side of the oceans.  All this for the sake of “freedom” and a
democracy that exists in name only.

Let’s get this straight.  The GIs we keep sending into harm’s way are
not protecting our freedoms.  They are
protecting the freedoms of the corporate fat cats to earn more money than you
can even imagine.  The success of the
9-11 conspirators in destroying the World Trade Center set off an obsessed
paranoia to destroy terrorists, for whom we have been combing the far reaches
of backward countries ever since, at enormous expense, not to mention loss of
life.

One of the ironies of all this is that, to date, the
only country that has blasted anyone with its nuclear capability is… us.

I sure hope it isn't. I bet Dick Cheney hopes so.

Our soldiers come back brutalized and needing months of therapy, there are
no jobs waiting for them, the V. A. is too rife in bureaucracy to deal with
the veterans who are coming home, so many innocents have been killed with
so called "collateral damage" and yet we persist in this idiocy. For what?
so millions can be made from war profiteering. Our politicians are greedy
and self serving for the most part and in thrall to lobbyists.]

A couple years, maybe even in less time, after the last US troops leave Afghanistan, the Taliban will be back in charge. Our efforts to build nations is fruitless, and it always will be. The people who planned 9/11 are dead. The war is over.

Yet the idiots in charge don't seem capable of this simple recognition...

Regime change is always a crap shoot. Often what you get is worse than what you had. Batista was a brutal dictator, but Castro has been a thousand times worse. So was the Shah, but I'd rather have him in charge that the Ayatollahs. Yes, Saddam was evil, but an Islamic government could be much worse.

What fool thought that "democracy" would even be viable in those backward places? Oh, I forgot; George W. Bush...

We have wasted way too much money fighting a battle that cannot be won. We are hated by a great deal of the countries of this world, we are neither feared or respected. And not all the money and/or aid will not sway that opinion, but yet we keep on trying. The ones that suffer are our brave troops, sent off like sacrificial lambs to the slaughter.

Even some of the Afghans we are trying to help have turned on us. We need to get out of there so that they can just kill each other.
