Another Bad News Day

Okay, this is why I should stay the hell away from the news. I clicked on CNN.com this morning and it’s full of stuff that makes me yearn for a more innocent time.

Item: 15 year old Chinese vandal defaces 3,500 year old Luxor temple

Item: Kentucky police officer killed in ambush when he gets out of his car to clear debris apparently set in the road by his killer

Item: British soldier attacked and killed in London as ‘revenge for deaths of Muslims worldwide’

Item: Oregon teen planned to kill fellow students in school, found in possession of homemade bombs, napalm, & Molotov cocktails

Our society is producing these sickos at a frightening rate. They are running at large and we are all at risk.

We are all at risk but, given your remote location, your risk is infinitesimal.

I think it is our society and we are raising children who are totally
unfeeling. Too much preoccupation with cell phones, video games and too
little interaction with parents who could guide them.

I think it is the time we live in.

The big question is whether people are actually crazier or the news is so much more immediate and plentiful these days that it just seems like it.

I think we're dealing with mutants and they are multiplying like the proverbial rabbits...

It's hard to decide whether it's better to find out about these things, or be ignorant and happier. In support of knowing, I suppose we could start a wall map, put a pin in Oregon, Egypt, London, and Kentucky and stay away from those places, but that won't solve anything, and what about those who are already there?

Ignorance is bliss?
