Lowlights

I don't have many weekly highlights, so I'll call them lowlights. Oh, I suppose the Democratic Convention was a highlight. I watched all the important speakers. Those TV "talking heads" irritated me as they would talk over the speakers in the background. I just think the president and his wife are wonderful. Goodness, if Obama isn't re-elected, I'll be crushed--all faith in Americans destroyed.

It's been feast or famine in the rain department. We've been drenched the past several days. Storms last night sent me to the basement for cover!

Before the rains came yesterday, I helped my SIL harvest green beans, tomatoes and raspberries for today's farmers markets. It troubles me to watch my daughter (Emily) work so hard with a baby expected any day now. Maybe it's the old "drive down a bumpy road" way of starting contractions. Nate bought 12,000 strawberry starts that needs to be planted this week--by hand! Guess what I'll be doing? There goes my back.

That's about it. Like I said, lowlights.

Yes, I read in later post that your granddaughter was born and you helped plant 7,000 of the strawberries.

We'll soon be looking like your "strawberry field" painting. Is it for sale?

Hubby was watching Meet The Press this AM and I was watching/listening to Romney. He is SO freaking smug. I wanted to reach thru the television and smack him. Terrible, I know, but true. Pompous Arse.

And Ryan is even worse!

Our drought is almost over. The days and nights have been cool but the heat is returning this week. 12000 strawberry plants. Your poor back and knees. Don't forget the sunscreen.

Never use the stuff despite my father and sister having skin lesions. I'm a bad boy.

Glad to see you are on board for Obama. There were many rousing speeches. The crowd was energized. Made the Republican affair seem really tepid. I listened to every word of Michelle, Clinton, and Obama -- I was glued to the set.

Me, too.

Our rainfall is back to normal now that the growing season is over. Just the way I don't prefer it--the watertable up before winter with no place for runoff to go in the spring. I can't imagine planting 12,000 anything. Kind of like counting logs as you split them.. ugh...

Speaking of counting, I see that "The Count" of Sesame Street died last week. I'm not sure how Nate plans on planting them. He's very precise, and they go in plastic holes. So I reckon it's by hand. Ugh.

On the bright side.....you'll only have to plant 6,000.
comment by nittineedles on Sept 8, 2012 8:40 AM ()
If there are three of you,it is only 4000...
reply by boots586 on Sept 9, 2012 2:49 PM ()
That doesn't sound nearly as bad!

we also have been getting dumped on with rain. Today could be very stormy for us with a possibility of tornadoes! During a normal storm, I like to sit on my porch and watch the lightning. something I used to do with my Dad. have a great weekend.
