Fizzle

Well, the remnants of Hurricane Isaac across Indiana are gone. And, as usual, the weathermen blew it.

Predicted rainfall amounts were 6-9" (then down to 3-4"). My yard received 1.1", all in one brief downpour. Predicted winds of 40 mph turned out to be no more than 10.

Many weekend events were canceled because of the forecasts. They should have consulted me. I knew. Call it intuition plus some barometer observations, but I called it.

It worked out for me. I still got my walks and jogs in. And I cleaned house, baked, read, etc., to complete some neglected indoor activities.

Today is Labor Day, a rather odd holiday, in my opinion. To honor those that work? Isn't that like patting ourselves on the back? Maybe we should have an "Eating Food Day". Oh, never mind--I guess we already have Thanksgiving.

One more thing: I miss the annual Jerry Lewis MD telethon! Not that I ever watched it--just tradition.

It's hot here again with near record highs. Had I remembered Oklahoma's rugged weather, Jenn and I might have landed elsewhere on our arrival from Mexico.

It's home for you, and, as the cliche goes, there's no place like home.

We're heading into another heat wave this week but it won't last long.

Turn on the AC.

Living in Florida, I have learned not to be disappointed when disaster misses us. I much prefer an erroneous forecast to storm damage.

We get used to all the hype associated with "possible tornadoes, blizzards, heat waves", etc. TV stations have a product to sell, I guess.

We didn't have much of Isaac in our area either, but I consider that a blessing and am not complaining. Although there was one whole day Max couldn't go outside and I heard from him on that subject.
