Highlights

The last few days have been wonderful. Busy, but wonderful.

We had a splendid Thanksgiving. I just love watching the Detroit parade down Woodward Avenue.

On Friday, we all went to get our Christmas tree. It was really cold but fun as always. This was our 11th year in a row of cutting our own tree down. The tree smells fabulous and looks beautiful. My kids were teasing me for being a control freak when it came to putting the tinsel on. They like to throw big clumps of it at the tree and call it "art" and I strongly disagree with this practice, LOL.

We had a bonfire after dinner. My husband and I snuck peppermint schnapps in our hot cocoa, tee hee.

On Saturday, my sister and her family came over for a second Thanksgiving feast. The cousins had fun together.

On Sunday, we all took off to the mall for Christmas shopping. It wasn't crowded and we had a good time. The kids chose an angel off the salvation army tree to buy a gift for a child in need. They picked a little baby this year and bought onesies and a warm jacket for him.

I'm getting a hair cut and my hair high-lighted today.

Summer seems like forever ago. The lack of sun and chlorine from swimming leaves my hair looking... well... dark & gloomy.

Some high lights will brighten up my look and my outlook.

Hope everyone is happy and healthy.

Sounds like you're making the lemonade out of lemons! You've got the proper holiday spirit.

Putting on the tinsel was always my mother's sacred duty and she took it very seriously. My father's job was to put the lights on the tree, and I remember the year I had to do it because he was out getting drunk with his brother. It made me sad because he never did it after that, figuring we were old enough to do it ourselves. I think you should just hang onto your tradition as long as you can.

I'm glad to read that you had a good holiday, Terri. Your family always sounds so, hmmm, wholesome and all-American or something.
