Christmas lights SUCK!

People...

Do not be fooled by the advertisement on the box that states, "when one light goes out, the others stay lit."

Do not be lulled into a safe assumption that these particular Christmas lights will not pose any problems for you in your decorating frenzy. The box is ONLY advertising HALF TRUTHS.

While it may be true when "one" light goes out, the rest stay lit.

What they FAIL to tell you is that when half the strand is out...

HALF THE STRAND IS OUT!

My poor husband was decorating the outside of the house yesterday. He had strand upon strand of 150 count lights spread out across the front of the lawn to test them before hanging them on the bushes. This, he does, because in past years he has decorated all the bushes in front of the house, only to find out...

HALF THE STRANDS ARE OUT! *#$@!&*&^%$

He'll be buying more lights on his lunch break today.

And I swear...

the day after Christmas, I am going to take advantage of the discounted Christmas "stuff" and fill a cart with boxes of lights.

I'm also going to urge my husband to find a loving home (or dumpster) for the huge box of half working lights that he seems to be saving in the hopes of....???????

What my adorable husband "saves" is fodder for another post.

No ladder + no lights = 2 good working legs.

Argh. How frustrating. Although I'm curious to see what your place looks like at Christmas. I see images of the Grizwald's light show in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.

Oh that sucks!Canadian Tire is always coming up with new fangled products...and most of them work as well as they say. Apparently these don't need sun and will charge even on cloudy days. I'm going to give them a try this year because our outdoor outlets are far and few between. I've got my eye on a set of pink Christmas bulbs on stakes to put in the front yard.Plus, Don+ladder=terrible things.

solar light are pretty good, but generally by 9pm they are very dim, or completely out. They look great when they are lit though

At Canadian Tire, they have solar lights that I'd like to try out. No need for extension cords or outlets or whatever. But I have to wonder what happens when one (or more) go out.
