A Loss in My Favor
A Loss in My Favor
Okay, the BIG news! This kinda freaks me out but in exactly one week, Wednesday 9/15 to today 9/22, I lost 5 lbs. No joke.
I'm on the 6-week Solution: 1200/day for only one week, 1500/day for the next five weeks. I only cheated on my calories on Saturday when I attended two parties and then only consumed 1600 calories for that day.
I must admit, I've been very cranky and tired on the low calorie diet and am excited to get to 1500/day plan tomorrow. That's the approx caloric diet I was on to drop the 52lbs from April 2007 - April 2008. 1200 isn't enough calories for someone to workout daily on, nor is it ideal to continue for more than a week as your body could go into starvation mode. Which would defeat the whole process of trying to lose the weight.
I've been trying to drop weight for the past three months and have only lost 3lbs on the vigorous workout plan. I was eating well, whole grains, veggies and fruit, and not too much sweets or other kryptonite type foods (term developed by my friend D), but enough that my calorie intake must have been too much. I was just maintaining my weight based on calories in and calories out.
I'm doing this program with a group at my gym and I lost the most of the group. But those ladies were right behind me with 3-4 pound losses. And as part of my new found confidence, and leadership abilities, I'm leading group walks and training another girl to run intervals. I even encouraged them to continue walking together even on the days that I cannot join them. They are walking together tomorrow! While I go on a trail run.
My goal over the next 5 weeks is to drop another 4 pounds. This goal will put me at 140, a mere 5lbs over my lowest maintained weight.
Calorie counting works. Lesson Learned, *again.* I can workout 2-5 hours a day and I won't lose weight till I account for what goes on my plate.
