I use to have a pocket full of money
I had an IRA, and lots of stocks
Now I live behind the local Wal-Mart
With a lawn chair and a cardboard box.
The government lent money to the banks
Not enough, but their doing okay
Decided to relieve some stress
Went to the Bahamas for a holiday.
You think you have it figured out
Then it's another lesson you learn
Just where the chips fall
And the way the world will turn
I had myself a beautiful car
It had style, a certain flair
Until they repossesed it
I used to live there.
The government went and lent money
To a broke down car industry
But they still use those Lear jets
To get where they have to be.
Just when you think you have the answer
There is another lesson to learn
Is there a light at the end of the tunnel
Or is this the way the world will turn.
