He waited, he watched
The storm clouds in the distance
But he choose not to leave
As he took a defiant stance.
He loved to watch the storms
approach
Mesmerized, he was taken
People thought the man was crazy
But they'd be mistaken.
For the darkness that overtook
the sky
Matched the darkness within his
heart
They were as one
Not to be apart.
He sat on the front porch
Swaying back and forth on the swing
Waiting, watching
For what the weather might bring.
He felt the warm wind
As it gently touched his face
He was where he wanted to be
This time, this place.
As he watched
The tree started to sway
Back and forth
The darkness overtook the day.
He stepped off the porch
Feeling the rain as it fell
It would probably last all day
As far as he could tell.
He then went inside
Nothing left to say
He sat by the window
Watching, and enjoying the day.
