She stood on the dock
Sunrise painted across the blue skies
Her raven hair flowing in the breeze
As tears stained her green eyes.
She just stood there
And watched her lover go
Two weeks of passion and fire
And a broken heart was all she had to show.
He had tried to tell her
Over and over again
He made no false promises
He did not want to cause her pain.
He knew he had to leave
Strong was the call of the sea
A spirit not to be caged
A spirit needing to be free.
She couldn't understand
As much as she tried
And came the day he left
Part of her that day died.
She watched the boat set sail
As it slowly departed
She wish he'd turn around
Instead leaving her broken hearted.
Now her sailor was gone
Tears flowed from her eyes
It would be a long time
Before she'd watch another sunrise.
