She closed her eyes
It seemed for a moment in time
Enjoying a brief respite
Within the comforts of her mind.
Trying with little success
To forget this day
The rude way people act
And the mean things they say.
But it was hard
No matter how she tried
Would it make a difference
If they knew how she cried.
They'd probably get a laugh
Maybe once or twice
Her efforts gone for naught
A reward for trying to be nice.
All consideration for feeling
Fallen by the wayside
She tried to be strong
Hold it all inside.
But she left work
Wanting to be home
But that made her feel worse
Because now she was alone.
She curled up on the couch
Tried to read a book
Then she turned on the television
And gave that a look.
Finally she grew tired
Drifting off to sleep
Maybe she could find peace
And a piece of sanity she could keep.
