I watched and I waited
As the sun slowly set
My mind was clear
In my heart there was no regret.
As I sit here
Enjoying the remainder of the day
The life I have chose to live
Leaves me with little to say.
I remember a woman
Seems so long ago
We enjoyed all that life offered
She took what I had to give
Then she said she had to go.
With her parting
She offered no alibis
Just turned her back and walked away
No half truths, no lies.
So I left my life
A life I knew so well
Before I started to wallow in self pity
In some kind of lovers hell.
Some nights she calls
Usually when she is lonely
But I don't talk to her
For she is just a memory.
Here is where I am
And this where I'll remain
For the things I need in life
I don't need the hurt nor the pain.
Before I leave here
I pick up and toss a stone
Ripples dance on the water
Happy that I chose to be alone.
