The dog days of summer are upon us. We have forecast temperatures for the next seven days from 95 to 100. I guess all good things must come to an end.
I am back in Oklahoma now with tons of work to do. I came home to find Kenna sick with a virus. She was in bed all weekend, so I tackled the laundry first. I don't think we had a clean towel left in the house.
While I was gone,  Grandson had problems with the lawnmover and couldn't get it to run properly, so the yard was a jungle with all the rain that Oklahoma had.
I got it out, cleaned the air filter, added some oil because it was nearly out, and shot some WD40 on the engine and the rope mechanism. Now, it's purring again.
Sometimes, I wonder about my kids and grandkids. They have absolutely no concept of how to fix anything or even what the problem might be.
I have always been a "can-do" person. I believe I "can do" anything. There are, of course, things that I do have to give up on and call the handyman; but not before I try to solve the problem myself first.
Kenna is always commenting on how handy I am to have around because I can fix a lot of minor problems that she would not even attempt.
Grandson is also working this summer at his first job. He is a counselor for "Play In The Park," a prorgram offered through the city's Parks and Recreation Department for kids 7 to 12.  The program runs from 8 each morning until 1 in the afternoon.
Since Kenna works for that department, she was able to help him get the job. We want him to put the money in savings to help buy his first car; he wants to spend it on an X-Box 360 and new games because his old one quit working. I hope he will see our wisdom in the end, but kids can't see beyond today, so we'll see.
More later; I must get to it!
