Bailey and Bailey At The Homecoming Game

Here are the two Baileys at the homecoming game Friday night. Not the greatest picture because it was taken with a phone. Each class wears the shirt all that day denoting its class and they wear these gaudy mums...the boy on his arm and the girl around her neck with trinkets denoting different sentiments.

But, here's the biggest surprise of all.  His mother changed her mind, allowing her Bailey to take our Bailey to the homecoming awards assembly when they crown the king and queen of homecoming and to the dance afterwards, which is held on Saturday night, following the football game on Friday night.

When they came to pick up our Bailey (she, her husband, and male Bailey), there she was with her camera, shooting pictures as he presented Bailey with her corsage and raving about how pretty Bailey looked.   I'll post those pictures as soon as Holly downloads them to me.

When I asked Holly later what changed her mind, Holly said,  "I have NO idea."  Evidently male Bailey has more balls than I originally gave him credit for having.

Holly and Bevan did speak with them after church last Sunday, but kept it low key, just letting them know they trusted her Bailey as well as liked him and looked forward to the kids enjoying homecoming the following weekend.  It might have been just the perfect way to handle it.

One final word.  Our Sooners did indeed send Bevo to the slaughterhouse Saturday, kicking his butt the whole way there.  Final score:  Oklahoma 63  Texas 21.  Just can't tell you how much good it does my heart to see Texas get stomped like that.

Needless to say, the Dallas papers were NOT kind to the athletic director and coach after the game!  I don't blame them.  Given the fact that Texas has the richest athletic department in the Big 12, losing to OU nine of the last thirteen years has to be grating on the nerves of some of those big time Texas donors.

I'm glad things worked out for your Bailey. Even though they got through this crisis, that woman sounds like trouble. I wonder if she drinks a lot.

Except for the red eyes the guy doesn't look like a dork as most guys that age do, so I suppose she's a lucky gurl. Still can't trust people who make a habit of changing their minds tho.

Yes, young love is special...and also fickle. This could end tomorrow!

Funny with all the Baileys--my niece's name is Susan and my nephew married a a Susan--always have to specify by last name which Susan one is talking or referring to!!!

I am really trying hard to remember--were we ever THAT young!

All I can remember is that I had my first date when I was fourteen with a guy named Eugene Parker. Beyond that, I'm pretty fuzzy. Yes, the name situation is confusing, at best.

phone photo or not, the kids look great and it may just well be that male Bailey told his mother some facts ... let's hope that's what it was, because who wants to be with a wus? I am happy whenever Texas gets stomped about anything.

Something changed her mind, and I suspect her son had something to do with it, although, when they arrived to pick up our Bailey, you would have thought it was all his mother's idea the way she gushed and carried on.

And you already know how happy I am about Texas getting thumped.

They are cute together.

They do look happy. I think they ended up having a wonderful time the entire weekend in spite of his mother trying her best to ruin it.
