Our rain has stopped; but it rained for almost 24 hours. I enjoyed sleeping last night. There were low rumbles of thunder as the rain came down steadily all night. All together, we received a little over three inches. Some places in North Texas had over five inches, and there has been some flooding of creeks, although no problem here.
I live right across the street from an elementary school, and I felt for the little kiddos this morning having to get out in the cold rain to go to school. I see the cars lined up over there to pick them up, as elementary schools dismiss at 2:50. It is still chilly but they won't get wet this afternoon at least.
We have been fortunate here in the Dallas area to have had a lot of rain in both December and January. Let's hope it continues through the Spring. After the horrible drought and heat we had last summer, it is going to take a lot of rain to get the ponds and lakes back to normal.Â
We still have more rain in the forecast for tomorrow, which is good news.
I haven't had my lunch yet. I usually get around to eating about this time of day. I'm thinking a big bowl of tomato soup will taste really good.
Think I'll go fix it. Hope all my friends in Oklahoma are getting rain also.
